Online Backup - February 17, 2008

I’m looking around for an online backup system for our small business client and I came across Ibackup and thought I would share it with you. I’m thinking of recommending it to my client as it pretty much fits his needs. I have done a bit of shopping around for an Online Backup but came up with lots and lots of services. So make sure you look around and pick one that best suits you, your family or your business.

IBackup boasts a lot of awards including one from PC world and another award from PC magazine. The backup service also does your email such as outlook or thunderbird etc, which is very useful as email is always one of the things I struggle with when backing up. It also backs up SQL, Oracle and other mainstream databases.

The service also allows you to manage your backups from anywhere with an internet connection via an internet browser. My personal one is firefox which is still a lot of problems for second rate web developers who cant seem to build across multiple browsers. I find this very annoying and there are still alot of sites that only run on internet explorer despite the market share for firefox being almost 15%!

Neighbours on Channel 5 - February 13, 2008

I have been watching neighbours on channel 5.

I’m back in the UK for SES and its now annoying that there are adverts in the middle.

I’ll ley you know how I get on at SES.

Neighbours is Moving - February 5, 2008

I recently found out that Neighbours is moving to Channel 5.

This means I can no longer catch up with what is going on via the BBC iPlayer.

Not sure what I’m going to do! I’ll let you know.

My Health Insurance - December 30, 2007

I have been looking for health insurance recently. I used bupa to get my health insurance quote which came out at a fairly acceptable cost. There were a few comparision sites out there but they didn’t really compare the market and some of the forms seemed very complicated.

The price seemed very reasonable and the service and terms & conditions also seemed acceptable. The Private medical insurance from BUPA seems to be the best available price for me.

The website is also very easy to use and I am quite enjoying the TV adverts BUPA are currently showing. They are simple shapes made out to be people requiring health insurance, medical insurance etc.

My Online Backup - December 20, 2007

iDrive offers upto 2GB of free encrypted online storage or you can get unlimited online storage for $4.95/month. iDrive claims to offer a better speed and performance that other leading online storage providers and I would have to agree. The service quickly met my maximum upload speed and my maximum download speed was also matched very quickly.

The Online Backup from iDrive is encrypted so you have peace of mind when backing up client or personal information that needs to remain secure. Recent enhancements include near real time backup of frequently changing data or CDP (Continuous Data Protection) and the ability to manage multiple accounts from single admin account. iDrive also provides browser access to backed up data with fast search options.

I quite like the online backup service as I very rarely use my pc without it being connected to the net. As I work in th online industry most of the things I use are online based. However the important word and excel documents we have to backup every now and again are easily backed up and I can access them from anywhere which is great! I often backup, but to a local directory connected to our works network. This makes it more secure, however, when I need something Iam usually away from the office.

Bad Credit Options - December 14, 2007

For the americans out there I want to recommend a site that I found when doing some searching last week. With the credit crunch still going on many people with bad credit are struggling to get financial products such as bad credit loans. Bad credit offers allow you to compare most of the US’ top bad credit product suppliers to find the best deal for you.

I’m sure there are a lot of other comparison sites out there that probably do the same thing howeber, I found this site to be easy to use and quick to produce decent results.

My Broadband Speed - December 7, 2007

I was watching the Gadget Show recently, which for you Americans is a UK show on surprisingly…..gadgets. I was watching that and they are currently doing tests on what braodband speeds we are getting.

Here we are offered upto 8 Mbps, sometimes more. I get a measly 1 Mbps!!!

I dont know anybody that gets anywhere near 8 Mbps. I just think the broadband companies could be doing more to:

a) Increase our speeds

b) Provide more information on our actual speeds

I realise it is difficult for the companies to get the speeds accurate but I really want faster broadband. I download a lot and it just doesn’t have the speeds I need.

Grand Theft Auto IV -

I watched the GTA 4 tailor today. I must say….. I’m impressed.

It looked very good and I cannot wait. I dont play my console that much but there are just some games that I really get into and GTA is one of them.

I’m really looking forward to the release which is in February.

Can anyone suggest some games I might like?

I’m into RPGs but with decent story lines. I liked Bioshock recently but hated Lost Planet.

Internet ASBO - December 5, 2007

A chav that boasted about his crimes on bebo has been handed an asbo.

The teenager, from Norwich was banned from using the internet to publish material that promotes criminal activities or is threatening.

I’m sure the can be more done to stamp out Internet bullying. Any Thoughts?
